Bio

I started with Violin at the age of 5 then switched to Cello at the age of 8. From early on, performance was a part of life, whether solo or ensemble. Having formed a string trio–Violin, Viola, Cello–with my brothers in Elementary School, we began to make headway in serious performances by the time we all finished high school. By the time I got to college we attended a number of summer camps and festivals together, playing in the orchestra and getting trio coaching as well as the requisite private lessons. We have even been in a full CD length recording done by Naxos. The title of the album: Night in the Tropics, music by Louis Moreau Gottschalk.

Some music camps attended: Rockland Summer institute 2x (NY), Sewanee Summer Music Festival (TN), Meadowmount School of Music (NY), Sessione Senese per la musica e l’arte (Sienna, ITALY), and a professional orchestral/vocal Festival AIMS 2x (Graz, AUSTRIA).

I have completed a Bachelor’s (Andrews University) and a Master’s (Michigan State University) Degree in Music Performance.

I have 20 years of Orchestral experience, 30 years of small ensemble and solo experience, and 10 years of recording myself for upload to social media.

Students will see regular and steady improvement over the course of study. They will also use critical thinking skills to learn how to engage with the music. Students will dig deeper to understand for themselves how and why we play a certain way rather than simply “telling” the student to play “this way or that way.”

Come, explore the world of Cello through lessons with me. Whether you are a beginner, advanced, or anywhere in between, we will work together to help you achieve your goals.
